The Ohio State football team is taking on Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers on New Year’s Day. Swinney has been very annoying thus far this season.

Dabo Swinney keeps putting out bulletin board material for the Ohio State football team. The latest being the Amway coaches poll in which Swinney ranked the Buckeyes No. 11 behind the likes of Coastal Carolina and a three-loss Iowa State team.

It sure seems like he has an ax to grind when it comes to Ohio State. That being said, Swinney is extremely annoying. Dabo sometimes doesn’t think before spouting something off to the media.

Earlier in the season he came out and said that Florida State dodged Clemson and used Covid-19 as an ‘excuse’ to avoid playing his team. That’s pretty low. He also has said on multiple occasions that teams that have played in six games should not be allowed in the playoffs, thus taking subtle jabs at Ohio State.

All this has got me thinking about annoying coaches. And it was hard to find three that were actually more annoying than Dabo but I gave it a try anyway.

No. 3: Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss

Where do we start with this guy? Seemingly moving jobs every other season, Kiffin just seems like he just wants to tour the country. It’s amazing that he is only 45 years old, it seems as if he’s been doing this forever.

Starting as a USC assistant under Pete Carroll, Kiffin was hired by the Raiders and the late Al Davis to become the youngest head coach in NFL history in 2007 at the age of 31. He was a mess in Oakland, starting when he was openly opposed to the selection of first-round pick Jamarcus Russell.

It didn’t take long for Davis to be sick and tired of Kiffin as only a few weeks into his second season Davis called Kiffin “a flat-out liar” and said he was guilty of “bringing disgrace to the organization” as Davis held a press conference to fire him.

Two months later Kiffin was the head coach at the University of Tennessee. After a 7-6 season, Kiffin abruptly resigned and accepted the head coaching job at USC, leaving Vols fans frustrated. But he sure made a ton of fans during his one season in the SEC as he called out Urban Meyer for cheating and was subsequently reprimanded by the conference for violations of his own.

His USC career wasn’t much better as he was widely criticized for voting his own Trojan team No. 1 for the preseason coaches poll in 2012 after saying publicly that he didn’t. Kiffin was famously fired at 3:00 A.M. in an airport by USC athletic director Pat Haden.

Eventually, Kiffin went to Alabama to work under Nick Saban and he of course stuck his foot in his mouth a few more times while there. Kiffin would then take the FAU job in 2016 as Alabama was preparing for the playoffs. Saban was so sick of Kiffin that he told him not to bother to coach and call plays in Alabama’s playoff game against Clemson.

Kiffin is now with Ole Miss and after one season there, it’s already been rumored that he was eyeing the open Auburn post. This guy can’t seem to stay in one spot for very long before everyone is annoyed with him.
