It seems like the Ohio State football program is still dealing with some COVID problems and it might cause issues with the Big Ten Championship.

The Ohio State football team had an issue with COVID prior to their game against Illinois. It was so bad that it forced them to cancel that game. They were eventually able to get themselves together to face Michigan State, but haven’t played a game since then.

Now it looks like COVID has reared its ugly head again. There are reports that multiple Buckeyes will miss the Big Ten Championship due to positive tests. It’s unclear who they are, even though there are rumors of one prominent offensive starter testing positive.

While we won’t speculate as to who those players are (you can find a certain player mentioned a bunch on Twitter), it does cause issues for the Buckeyes for a possible playoff berth. If the Buckeyes were able to beat Northwestern, they would still have to deal with the 21-day protocol set in place by the Big Ten.

If that holds, whatever players that test positive would be out for the semi-final. It doesn’t matter which players would be out, that would be a big blow to the team. Ohio State shouldn’t have problems beating Northwestern without all of its starters but would need everyone to beat a Playoff team.

It would be a major problem for the Buckeyes if they were without multiple starters against Clemson, Notre Dame, or Alabama. The Big Ten needs to do the right thing and re-examine the 21-day protocol and reduce it to be in line with the other conferences.

As of now, the Big Ten Championship is still on. Of course, games have been canceled this late before. We will definitely keep you up to date if anything changes. The good news is that the game is still slated to be played despite COVID’s best efforts.
