More Ohio State football players honored on defense

More Ohio State football players were honored today, this time on the defensive side of the ball as the Big Ten gave out more honors.
Ohio State football players continue to grab accolades from the Big Ten Conference. Yesterday, it was players on offense. Today it’s players from the defensive side of the ball. Several Buckeyes were able to snag All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and the media.
As selected by the media, Shaun Wade was First Team All-Big Ten, Tommy Togiai was Second Team All-Big Ten, and Pete Werner was Third Team All-Big Ten. All of these players rightfully deserved these honors, although Pete was selected to the First Team by the coaches.
The biggest snub here is Haskell Garrett. I would argue that Garrett has been better this season than Togiai, and yet is nowhere to be found on this ballot by the media. It’s an extremely poor oversight by members of the Big Ten media.
As selected by the coaches, Wade and Werner were First Team All-Big Ten, while Togiai and Zach Harrison were Second Team All-Big Ten, and Garrett, Jonathon Cooper, and Baron Browning were Third Team All-Big Ten. The coaches clearly have very high regard for the Buckeyes.
The only player here that I think got ranked too high was Harrison. He hasn’t really played as well as some people expected him this season. He only has 9 total tackles and 2 sacks this season. Second Team seems a little high for him. Garrett should be in that spot.
Wade was also honored as the best defensive back in the country by winning the Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year Award. Wade had a rough start to the season, but has played well in the last two games by recording interceptions in both contests.
These awards show what everyone already knows; Ohio State has the best team in the conference.
