Ohio State looks to be with most of their key players based on comments from Ryan Day and Kevin Wilson today during the Ryan Day Show.

Ohio State may have a new acting head coach on Saturday when the Buckeyes take on Michigan State, but they won’t have new players in some key positions. Based on comments by both Ryan Day and Kevin Wilson today, several key Buckeyes don’t have COVID.

On Ryan Day’s show on 97.1 the Fan, Wilson indicated that he will be moving to the field for this game that Larry Johnson will be coaching. Wilson will be doing so in order to “look Justin Fields in the eyes” while he is making play calls. It will help them have better play calls on offense.

Based on that comment, it sounds like Fields will be available for the game. That’s a very good thing for the Buckeyes. He’s the one player the Buckeyes can’t afford to lose for any game. It sounds like his receivers will be available too.

Wilson also said that Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Julian Fleming all look good and will help in his playcalling Saturday. Based on him saying that it sounds like the key receivers will be available on Saturday as well. Again, good news for the Buckeyes’ CFP prospects.

Ohio State probably won’t have to play all of their games in order to make the Big Ten Championship. That’s because the Big Ten would change the rule if they don’t qualify. Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez said as much recently, saying the conference would look at the rule if that occurs.

The biggest thing for the Buckeyes is getting enough games to have more data points for the CFP committee to put them in over Texas A&M, Florida, or the loser of the Notre Dame-Clemson rematch in the ACC Championship game.
