Ohio State basketball takes care of business against Morehead State
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team played much better tonight than they did on Sunday against UMass Lowell. The Buckeyes actually made shots today.
It’s a lot easier to win basketball games when you hit shots. Just ask the Ohio State basketball team. They finally made some shots and didn’t have to work so hard on offense. That ease of offense is what allowed them to beat Morehead State 77-44.
The Buckeyes finally made some threes in this game. This is a team that clearly will live and die by the three-point shot a little bit. They weren’t hitting it on Sunday and almost lost because of it. Today, they were able to hit way more and it allowed them to win easily.
After not hitting a three-pointer until the second half against UMass Lowell, the Buckeyes were able to make 11 of them against the Eagles. The scoring was also much more balanced in this one, which helped ease the stress of this game. Six different players made threes for Ohio State.
E.J. Liddell led the team with 16 points. He feasted in the paint all game long and added 7 rebounds. Justice Sueing, Duane Washington, and C.J. Walker all had 11 points as well. Kyle Young added 10 points to make all five starters hit double-digits.
Justin Ahrens hit his threes today, going 3-6 from deep. All in all, it was just a solid performance from Chris Holtmann’s group after a rough start. They struggled at the beginning of the game against the zone but were eventually able to shoot their way out of it.
Next on the docket is Alabama A&M, another game that should be an easy victory. As long as they hit their layups and open shots, this shouldn’t be a game of any sort of concern for the Buckeyes.
