Ohio State football is back on after the Buckeyes resumed team activities today. It looks like they will be playing football this weekend.

Ohio State wasn’t able to play Illinois because of COVID last weekend. The Buckeyes have multiple people who have positive tests, including head coach Ryan Day. It looked like the prospects of playing this week were bleak. Now, that has changed after today.

The Buckeyes were able to practice today. Everyone who was available to practice did so as the facilities fully reopened. It’s a really good sign that the Buckeyes were able to do this. It means that the team is on track to face Michigan State in a game that they must play.

It looks like as of now, the game is on track to be played. If the Buckeyes have more positive tests between now and Saturday, the game may not be played. It’s a problem if that happens. Then the Buckeyes would not be eligible for the Big Ten Championship game.

Ohio State needs to win this game convincingly in order to have a good ranking in the CFP. The committee will release another version of their rankings tonight. It will be interesting to see if they punish the Buckeyes for not playing last weekend.

The rankings tonight will give us a good indication of what they think about Ohio State moving forward. If they are still in the top four, maybe they don’t need a Big Ten title to make it into the playoff. It’s a debate that hopefully will be a moot point.
