Ohio State football is about to show off how much depth they have over the course of the final three games of the regular season.

The Ohio State football program is having some COVID issues with the team right now. It’s unclear how many players do have the virus, but it doesn’t seem to quite be enough to cancel the Illinois game. Reports are that the Woody is open today and the Buckeyes are indeed practicing.

That doesn’t mean that the Buckeyes won’t be missing some key players. While we don’t know who the players are that have tested positive, it doesn’t really matter. Ohio State will need to show the depth that they have built across all positions on the team.

The good news is that Ryan Day has done a truly phenomenal job of recruiting great players at every position. They have depth at every position on the offensive side of the ball. Defense is the only question right now. The defensive line isn’t quite as deep as it was last year.

It actually might not be a bad thing to let some other members of the secondary get out there. Day has mentioned that there could be some personnel changes back there, and that was before the COVID tests happened. That would be the one area of the field where the positive tests wouldn’t kill them.

No matter who the players are that have the virus, they will have to miss 21 days. That takes them out of the running to play in any of the final three regular-season games. It will be up to the backups to keep this team trucking along towards the Big Ten title game.
