The Ohio State basketball team is coming off a big win against Illinois State in their opener yesterday. They got another win today by landing a four-star point guard for the class of 2022.

Chris Holtmann has shown the ability to recruit at a high level in his four years as head coach of Ohio State basketball. While he hasn’t been able to keep ahold of all of those recruits once they play a year or two, he has at least gotten the talent in the door. That continues today as he added another good player to the program.

The Buckeyes were able to grab four-star point guard Bruce Thornton today. Thornton is the 30th best player in the country and is the 7th best point guard. He is also the second-best player in the state of Georgia, as he is from Alpharetta.

Thornton 6’2 and weighs 192 pounds. He definitely has some bounce to him. Based on his film, he has one thing on his mind, and that’s to score the basketball. He has a wide variety of ways to do that too. He seems to be really good with pull-ups.

The Ohio State basketball team needs more players who can create their own shot, and Thornton can do that.

The other appealing thing about Thornton is his range. He can shoot it from deep beyond the arc. He also has a very repeatable stroke. Thornton also uses his speed and quickness to get in position to get his shot off and is very shifty with the dribble.

One of the biggest problems with the Buckeyes last season is that they didn’t have enough players who could create their own shot. That is not a problem with Thornton. He can create his own shot from anywhere on the floor.

Next. Why we are thankful for Ohio State football. dark

Thornton will be a welcome addition to the Buckeyes in a couple of years. He should only continue to get better as he develops more in high school too.
