Ohio State was not shown the respect that it is due by being ranked below a team with a loss in the first CFP rankings.

The Committee is very dumb. That much is clear after the first CFP rankings were released on Tuesday night. Or maybe they’re smart because they get people like me to talk about rankings that really don’t matter until a month from now. Either way, Ohio State loses.

Ohio State was ranked fourth in the first CFP rankings of 2020. Alabama was first, which no one disputes or has a problem with. Notre Dame was second, which again makes sense. After that, pure lunacy and stupidity ensue, starting with the third-ranking.

Clemson, the same team with a loss that also struggled with a bad Boston College team, is ranked ahead of Ohio State at third. Ohio State is slotted one spot behind them at fourth. It makes absolutely no sense to rank Clemson ahead of Ohio State based on how the Buckeyes have looked so far this season.

The Buckeyes have not come close to losing any game this season. Even last week’s game against 9th ranked Indiana wasn’t truly in danger despite the Bucks only winning by seven. Either way, that is a top 10 team that they beat. They don’t have a loss. It’s simple math.

The rankings after that don’t really matter. The next ranked Big Ten team is Northwestern at 8th. Ohio State wouldn’t see them until potentially the Big Ten Championship game. Other than that, the Bucks don’t have another CFP ranked team on their schedule.

Next. Tyvis Powell talks championships, Marcus Hooker, etc.. dark

Again, these rankings don’t matter. The only ones that do are released on December 20th. As long as the Buckeyes keep winning their games, they will be in the playoff. It’s as simple as that.
