After Ohio State started the game with a two-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, the Buckeyes looked as if they were going to steamroll the #9 ranked Hoosiers. But despite leading at halftime 35-7, the Buckeyes let the Hoosiers come back in the 2ndhalf due to defensive struggles.

The Buckeyes still managed to beat the Hoosiers 42-35 to capture the 2nd best win in the country so far this season.

The College Football Playoff Committee will reveal their first top 25 rankings on Tuesday. This season has been unprecedented, which is even an understatement. This will be an interesting challenge for the committee to rank the top 25 teams navigating through several different obstacles that have occurred this season.

As the committee reviews “best wins”, the win over #9 ranked Indiana gives the Buckeyes the 2nd best win this season. Notre Dame captured the top win when the Irish beat Clemson 47-40 in overtime.

It is important that as bad as the Big Ten has been this year, Indiana proved to be one of the top teams in the country on Saturday. With the pressure applied to Fields and the playmaking ability of Hoosiers QB Penix Jr., the Hoosiers were a great test for the Buckeyes as the journey continues to the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State racked up 607 total yards of offense against the Hoosiers. Justin Fields still managed to accumulate 378 total yards with 3 touchdowns despite his 3 interceptions. Although our defensive secondary allowed 5 touchdowns on 491 yards through the air, it is reassuring to know that there is still room for improvement for this Kerry Coombs defense.

As the rankings are revealed on Tuesday, I’d expect the committee to rank the Buckeyes 3rd above #4 Clemson and behind #1 Alabama and #2 Notre Dame.
