Because of the new stay-at-home advisory for Franklin County, Ohio State family members will no longer be able to attend this Saturday’s game against the Hoosiers.

Ohio State has done a good job of keeping its student-athletes safe. Not a single member of the football program has received a positive COVID test since the season started, and really even during summer workouts. They have an excellent system in place.

This extends to keeping their parents safe as well. Family members have been able to attend games at the Shoe while being effectively spaced out. No one has contracted COVID from going to games either. Ohio State continues to do a fantastic job with the disease.

Apparently, that fantastic record doesn’t matter. Because of the stay-at-home advisory that goes into effect Friday, family members will no longer be able to attend Saturday’s game against Indiana. There will be no fans in the stands of any kind this week.

This is a really big bummer for both the players and the family members involved. This is the biggest game of the Buckeyes’ season and it would have been great for them to be able to at least share the moment with their families. Instead, that won’t be the case.

The stay-at-home advisory is for at least 28 days unless deemed no longer necessary by Franklin County Public Health. Conveniently enough for Franklin County, the advisory would be lifted the day before the Michigan game on December 12th. Interesting how that works.

While this is a bummer, the players can’t let it distract them. They have to come out focused and execute against a really good Indiana team. Ohio State is still expecting to win this game. Not having family members in the stands shouldn’t change that outcome.
