As long as Ohio State beats Indiana next week, the Buckeyes should have a clear path into the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State has been dominant over their first three games of the season. They will be favored in every game the rest of the way, including the Big Ten Championship game. In order to get to that game though, they have to beat Indiana next week.

Indiana comes in ranked as the 9th best team in the country. They have been the best story in the Big Ten thus far, beating Penn State by one and then handling Michigan and Michigan State in back to back weeks. They will be the hardest team on the Buckeyes’ schedule.

Even with that being the case, Ohio State still has way more talent than the Hoosiers. If they win that game, they have easy games to finish the season. They have Illinois, Michigan State, and Michigan to finish off their regular-season slate. None of those should cause them issues.

That leaves them with a clear path towards the College Football Playoff. Even if by some miracle they lose the Big Ten Championship, the committee would have to see another team that would unequivocally be better than them. Unless some other team in the SEC emerges, that is unlikely to happen.

We can talk about things like this. We can talk about how this team is by far the best team in the conference. But you know that Ryan Day isn’t going to let his team fall for it. He is not going to let his team be distracted until this season is over and they have completed all of their goals.

Next week will be the most fun game of the season so far. Hopefully COVID doesn’t ruin this one too.
