Ohio State will get an unplanned bye week following the cancellation of the Maryland game. This is how they can keep the rhythm they have found so far this season.

The Buckeyes knew that this was going to be a season unlike any other. With the pandemic continuing to rage on, it was always going to be hard to play a normal schedule. Now Ohio State is experiencing that firsthand as they have their first game canceled due to COVID.

Ryan Day’s squad now gets an unplanned bye week to prepare for their toughest opponent so far this season in the Indiana Hoosiers. Both teams will roll into next week undefeated and tied for the top spot in the Big Ten East. The key thing is for them to keep their rhythm.

In order to do that, Day has decided to keep as normal of a schedule as possible. They will have a walkthrough today and a padded practice tomorrow instead of playing a game. Then they will have their normal routine next week as they prepare for IU.

Day will make sure that his team remains focused on the task ahead. No one will be wishing that they could still play Maryland. The entire team will now focus all of their energy on preparing for the Hoosiers. This is actually probably bad news for the Hoosiers.

Giving Ohio State extra time to prepare for them means that they won’t be able to hide anything on film. It also means that the Buckeyes have extra time to rest and heal any bumps and bruises that they may have gathered at this point in the season.

dark. Next. Should the CFP get expanded this season?

This is just a bump in the road. This is a team that is laser-focused and should be able to handle any challenge the Hoosiers throw at them next Saturday.
