After the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions, 38-25, two Buckeyes have been named Big Ten Players of the Week.

Ohio State QB Justin Fields has been named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa was also recognized by the conference. Shockingly, this is Fields’ first time being the player of the week.

Fields had a spectacular game against PSU, completing 28 of 34 passes for 318 yards and four touchdowns. Justin has now accounted for as many touchdowns (7) as incompletions. The junior QB has been nothing shy of incredible through the first two games.

Ohio State DT Tommy Togiai has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. Togiai had a phenomenal game against the Nittany Lions, recording seven tackles and three sacks. Entering Saturday’s game Togiai had zero career sacks, he now is the Big Ten’s co-leader in sacks along with Illinois’ Owen Carney Jr.

In early October, Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson expressed his excitement for Togiai “We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg of what he can do.” Larry Johnson has to be feeling very optimistic regarding the defensive line, as they combined for five total sacks on Saturday night and held the Nittany Lions to a total of 44 rushing yards, PSU’s worst rushing performance since 2017.

There is a lot to be excited about after Ohio State’s win in State College, but now Ryan Day’s Buckeyes turn their attention to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Rutgers (1-1) is coached by former Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano.

Next. Buckeyes might have a kicking issue. dark

Rutgers appears to have their best team since joining the Big Ten in 2014, but the Buckeyes still are 37-point favorites. The Scarlet and Gray will battle the Scarlet Knights In Columbus on Saturday night, kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.
