Ohio State Football: Buckeye Blitz for showdown under the lights
Several games this week fall under “upset watch.” Georgia travels to face fluctuating Kentucky – beat Mississippi State and Tennessee by a combined 58-9, sandwiched by losses to Auburn, Ole Miss, and Missouri – Clemson faces 4-2 Boston College without Trevor Lawrence, and No. 6 Oklahoma State hosts 3-2 Texas in Stillwater, Okla.
Michigan State will hope to rebound after losing to Rutgers – yes, Rutgers – at No. 13 Michigan, who just throttled Minnesota 49-24. The Spartans have suffered a tremendous fall since their 2015 Big Ten championship and CFP berth, but even keeping the game close would be a win against the Wolverines.
Meanwhile, the most entertaining game in college football outside of State College, Penn., could be the battle between 3-1 Memphis and No. 7 Cincinnati (4-0), who looks to be the Group of 5’s best contender to make the CFP.
Bearcats QB Desmond Ridder and RB Gerrid Doaks led former Ohio State player and coach Luke Fickell’s team to a 42-13 win on the road against then-No. 16 SMU. The Tigers’ only loss was to SMU, 30-27, but expect a fight in Cincinnati.
Finally, a suddenly-ranked Indiana (No. 17) travels to Piscataway, New Jersey, to face 1-0 Rutgers in a game that unexpectedly looks to be more interesting than the battle for the Paul Bunyan trophy, and features two teams that are currently better than Penn State, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
