Ohio State beat Nebraska in a game that was never in doubt, but they still have some things to work on before next week’s battle.

Ohio State was expected to dominate the Cornhuskers from the word go. While they won 52-17, they didn’t dominate as expected. Even so, there were still plenty of things to be happy about.

Justin Fields is the real deal. He was amazing throwing the ball, completing 20 of his 21 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He was extremely accurate and had some great throws, including a dime to Garrett Wilson for a touchdown.

The defense wasn’t quite as impressive early on. They couldn’t stop the read option and allowed Nebraska to gain a lot of yards in the run in the first half. Considering they knew going into the game that’s the only way they can move the ball, it’s concerning they couldn’t stop them.

It was a lot better in the second half though. The Buckeyes forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. They did a better job of containment in the run game and showed the type of defense we all thought they were going to be. It needs to be better going into next weekend though.

That’s because Penn State will not allow them to get off that easily. They have a lot more talent on offense than Nebraska. If the Buckeyes want to win on Halloween night, they need to play better defense from start to finish.

The running game wasn’t very good either. Trey Sermon and Master Teague were shut down for most of the game. The offensive line didn’t open up very many holes for them either. That’s something that needs to improve a lot before next week.

dark. Next. Don’t take Ohio State football for granted

All in all, a win is a win. It’s always good to win by a lot of points, no matter who you play. But the Buckeyes know they need to do better if they want to win it all.
