Ohio State and Midwestern football fans rejoice! The Big Ten returns today, but the real action starts tomorrow with a big clash in Minneapolis.

Before taking a look at the match-up between the Michigan Wolverines and Minnesota Golden Gophers, we take a look at Ohio State’s opener at home against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The long-awaited kickoff for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes is almost here, and coming into Columbus are the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who have disappointed under Scott Frost in his first two years in charge, going 9-15 and losing both games to Ohio State, including a 48-7 thrashing in Lincoln last year.

For Nebraska, the offense starts with QB-WR combo Adrian Martinez and Wan’Dale Robinson. RB Dedrick Mills can also get the job done on the ground, but Robinson specifically will be the key player for the Ohio State defense to stop, as he racked up 793 total yards.

Against the Nebraska defense, Justin Fields and the running back tandem of Master Teague and Trey Sermon face a team that gave up 388.8 total yards per game (tenth in the Big Ten), 188.1 of which came on the ground, ranking 11th in the Big Ten and 94th nationally.

As discussed in the breakdown of the Cornhuskers, special teams (particularly placekicking, where six different kickers attempted field goals) could be a place for the Buckeyes to take advantage of the Cornhuskers.

Once the ball is kicked off just after noon Saturday, Ohio State should have no major issues with Nebraska. Although the offense could keep them within striking distance, the Buckeyes will practice their own social distancing on the scoreboard, running away with the game by the fourth quarter.

Now, onto the big clash in the Big Ten and one that could factor into the conference race, especially for Minnesota in the West division.
