Ohio State football vs. Nebraska 2020: Game prediction
By Ryan Stano
Ohio State starts their season against Nebraska in a game that a lot of people don’t think will be close. This is how things will shake out at noon on Saturday.
Ohio State is coming off perhaps the most disappointing loss in the last 20 years. That loss to Clemson is disappointing for a variety of reasons, and I don’t like revisiting that game very much. But they have a chance to start putting it all behind them on Saturday.
They start their season against Nebraska in a game that starts off the Big Ten season. The Buckeyes throttled Nebraska last year 48-7 in Lincoln. The Buckeyes are favored by 26 points at home this weekend. I don’t even think it will be that close.
Justin Fields has been waiting 10 months to throw another pass after his last one against Clemson ended the game. He was perhaps the most vocal player in the Big Ten in wanting to get this season started. I expect him to have an absolute monster game.
The defense shut down a more talented Nebraska team a year ago. Even though Ohio State has less talent on defense too, they are still miles better than the Cornhuskers’ offense. I could see them having 4 sacks and forcing at least 3 turnovers.
Fields is going to want to show everyone that he is the best player in the country. Expect him to have over 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in this one. He probably won’t play in the fourth quarter at all either. The Buckeyes might put up 600 yards of total offense.
Prediction: Ohio State 56 Nebraska 10
The only time Nebraska scores points is late when the Buckeyes have in backups on defense. Ohio State is just too talented of a team. They also are just too motivated to be stopped. This game will be over by halftime.
This will be the first of many blowouts that Ohio State will deliver to opposing foes.
