Ohio State has been waiting to play their first game of 2020 since they walked off the field in the CFP loss against Clemson. Now as they enter game week, they should be a top 5 team in the polls again.

Ohio State was the second-ranked team in the country before the season started. They were originally just behind Clemson in the polls. Then the Big Ten decided that they weren’t going to play at all in the Fall, reversed their decision, and now the Buckeyes sit 6th,

The only reason that they sit at 6th in the AP Poll is that they have yet to play a snap. They are clearly more talented than the majority of the teams in the country. Regardless of that fact, after two top-five teams lost this weekend, the Buckeyes should be back in that area of the polls.

Georgia got blanked in the second half of their game against Alabama and lost 41-24. They were the third-ranked team in the country. North Carolina was the fifth-ranked team in the country and lost to a really awful Florida State team. Both teams should fall out of the top 5.

Ohio Stae should slide right in and possibly be 3rd in the new polls. Clemson deserves the right to still be number one. Even though Notre Dame didn’t look impressive yesterday, they will still probably be second. It makes sense to put the Buckeyes 3rd for now.

Of course, the rankings don’t really matter this time of year. As long as the Buckeyes go undefeated and don’t have any games canceled due to COVID they should be where they want to be, which is in the CFP competing for a national championship.

We will see where the Buckeyes sit at the polls before their matchup with Nebraska. It will be interesting to see what the college football world thinks of them at this point.
