Ohio State has recruited at a high level over the last few years. No position has been recruited more effectively than wide receiver, and that has continued even in the class of 2022.

Recruiting never stops for elite college programs. Ohio State definitely qualifies as a top program, and their recruiting has been excellent. Right now they have the number two class for 2021 and have a good start in 2022. Their 2022 class could get a large boost soon too.

The number one receiver in the class has Ohio State in his top 12, along with Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, and USC. Caleb Burton announced his decision to cut his list down to 12 on Tuesday night.

Burton is a five-star prospect and is listed as the 8th best prospect in the country according to 247 Sports. Burton is from Texas, so it makes sense that Texas makes the list. Having watched both Oklahoma and Texas just lose might hurt both schools’ chances though.

Ohio State has a wealth of talent at wide receiver and has the best receiver in the NFL with Michael Thomas. They should be strong contenders for Burton throughout the entire process. Burton still has time to make his way up the rankings next season.

Right now, Burton is 6 feet tall and only 160 pounds. He should put on a little weight as he matures and grows more into his body. He needs to because that is a pretty slight frame right now. Burton makes up for that with explosive acceleration and burst.

Brian Hartline has shown that he is among the best recruiters in the country. If he could land yet another top receiver prospect, Ohio State will be hard to beat in the coming years. They already have their quarterbacks of the future lined up for years to come.

There is no telling when Burton will make his final decision. He still wants to make official visits to more campuses once that sort of thing is allowed. There’s no doubt that the Buckeyes will make a hard push to grab this special talent.
