Ohio State football: How 2020 will affect 6 top players’ draft stock
By Ryan Stano
Shaun Wade was a key piece of the secondary a year ago. The entire fabric of the Clemson game changed last year when he was unrightfully ejected for a bogus targeting call. His value has gone noticed in NFL circles, where he is currently listed as the second-best corner in next years’ draft.
Wade has played safety and a lot of slot corner in his time in Columbus. He has played a minimum amount of snaps outside, which is what scouts want to see more of this year. If he excels at that, he could propel himself to the number one corner spot in the draft next year.
As far as his overall draft prospects, it would depend on what teams are at the top of the draft and what their needs are. Corner is a valuable position in the NFL, so it would stand to reason that a good season in 2020 could vault him into the top five in the draft.
A bad season though could see him slip to the end of the first round. If Wade for some reason struggles on the outside or gets hurt, his value would likely drop. His overall talent is too hard to ignore though, so a drop outside the first round is out of the question.
Next, we take a look at the other player who initially decided to opt out of the 2020 season before changing his mind to play for the Buckeyes one more time.
