2020 has been a whirlwind to say the least but on August 11th, the year got even harder to swallow when Big Ten Commissioner, Kevin Warren, announced to postpone its fall sports season that included football. But now Ohio State gets a chance to play.

When many thought the Big Ten would begin the domino effect of the rest of the Power 5 postponement of the football season, the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 held their ground and stayed committed to moving forward with the fall seasons while keeping the student athlete’s safety as the #1 priority.

After continuous efforts led by Justin Fields, Ryan Day, and several players and player’s families, the fight came to an end today when the Big Ten presidents ultimately reversed the pandemic-related shutdown. Ohio State was very vocal about everything.

The Big Ten will have an 8-game schedule in 8 weeks starting on October 23rd. Daily, rapid testing will be a big part of the plan to keep the programs and all involved safe. The Big Ten Championship Game will be held on December 19th which is the day before the College Football Playoff committee announces their final rankings of the season.

Despite Shaun Wade and Wyatt Davis opting out to pursue the NFL Draft, don’t count these 2 projected 1st round draft picks out just yet. With the decision coming down today, it could be more icing on the cake if Wade decides to opt back in to play for the Buckeyes this season. Davis is already trying to come back.

The bottom line is simply – the Buckeyes are back and they are on a crash course seeking revenge on Clemson for the National Championship. According to Pro Football Focus, the Buckeyes are now the favorites to win the National Championship. The Buckeyes entered the year as the top-ranked team in college football due to no their non-existent weaknesses and their returning superstars on both sides of the ball.
