As of right now, Ohio State has no chance to win a national championship in 2020. There is one way that they can give themselves a chance though, and it’s up to the Big Ten.

Right now, no team in the Big Ten has a chance to win a national championship. Right now, they are trying to figure out a way to play in the Spring. They are looking at all of the options available, and reports are they might even start in November. If they do start then, Ohio State can’t win a national title.

Starting in late November, as has been reported is under consideration, would be too late for the Buckeyes to be considered for anything. It’s also already too late for the Big Ten to reverse course and play in September. The only chance they have would be to start in October.

There have been a few rumors circulating on Twitter about a possible start in early October for the Big Ten. None of the people I have seen tweet such rumors are verified sources or enough for me to think that it’s going to happen. But it is certainly something worth discussing.

If the Big Ten did for some reason reverse course and decide to start things in October, it would give Ohio State their only shot at playing for a national title. At that point, there would only be enough time to play about 8-9 games before the committee would make their decision.

That would still be enough if the Buckeyes were to go undefeated in that schedule for them to make the College Football Playoff. The only way this matters though is if the Big Ten reverses course and admits that they’re wrong, and I don’t see that happening.
