Over the course of his head coaching career, Urban Meyer will go down as one of the greatest college coaches of all time. Winning national championships at Ohio State and Florida, receiving coach of the year accolades, and producing NFL talent, not many will achieve the heights that Meyer achieved throughout his historic career.

During his time as head coach at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State, he has not only transformed programs and developed players but he has nurtured his coaching staff along the way as well.

A byproduct of the coaching trees of Earle Bruce, Jim Heacock, Sonny Lubick, Lou Holtz, and Bob Davie, Meyer has produced some of the top college and NFL coaches in today’s game. As the 2020 football season is set to begin, there will be 10 college head coaches that are byproducts of Urban Meyer, who will lead their teams this season.

Among these head coaches include Ryan Day, Dan Mullen, Tom Herman, Kyle Whittingham, and Luke Fickell. Ohio State, Florida, Texas, Utah, and Cincinnati are all ranked in the 2020 pre-season Top 25 AP poll. Other top coaches include Steve Addazio, Greg Schiano, and Charlie Strong.

Looking back at Urban’s first national championship with the Gators in 2006, his staff may have been the greatest coaching staff ever assembled. Steve Addazio, Charlie Strong, Dan Mullen, Doc Holliday, Greg Mattison, and Stan Drayton were all apart of that historic championship run for the Gators.

Fast forward to his 2014 national championship with the Buckeyes, his coaching staff included Luke Fickell, Tom Herman, Kerry Coombs, Stan Drayton, and Larry Johnson.

Not only has Urban developed college coaches but he has contributed to NFL coaching careers as well. This includes Titans head coach and former Buckeye assistant Mike Vrabel.

Developing players is crucial to a program’s success but having an elite coaching staff is just as important.
