If there is going to be any meaningful change with the conference going forward, Ohio State needs help from the other schools in the conference.

The Big Ten has had a lot of negative press for their decision to cancel the Fall football season. Kevin Warren has claimed that the university presidents were united in their decision to do so. We know that’s not the case. We also know that Ohio State needs some help.

There is no hope in regaining a full Fall schedule for 2020. It’s too late to get something like that together. It’s almost too late for the proposed round-robin that Ohio State is trying to organize. Ohio State needs help from other Big Ten schools though for future endeavors.

They need help to make sure that players’ voices are heard in future decisions that need to be made. Athletes should be given a voice on decisions that directly affect their future. This would have been one of those times, but that time has already passed.

Ohio State needs schools like Michigan, Penn State, and other powers to jump in. Nebraska has already made their voice heard. If these schools truly start to throw their weight around, they can reshape the conference in any mold that they see fit. That mold should be something that benefits the students more than it does now.

Obviously, the pandemic is uncharted territory. There hasn’t been anything like this in anyone’s lifetime. But that doesn’t mean that decisions need to be made hastily. The Big Ten as a whole should have thought things through more and been more transparent about everything.

dark. Next. Ohio State recruiting might thrive amidst turmoil

It’s up to the members schools to demand that transparency moving forward from brass in Chicago. It takes a group effort though, and Ohio State needs help to accomplish this goal.
