The Big Ten Commissioner has taken a lot of heat in the last two weeks, including yesterday from Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith. Could the Big Ten remove him from office?

Kevin Warren has not had the best start to his job. Since he took over earlier this year, there has been a global pandemic, the NCAA tournament was shut down, and he made the wildly unpopular decision to cancel Fall sports in the Big Ten. Many people are not happy with him.

In fact, so many people are unhappy with him that #FireKevinWarren was trending on Twitter. If that many people are unhappy, maybe there needs to be a change made. Could there be a way for the Commissioner to be fired less than one year after taking the new job?

In order for that to happen, the Big Ten presidents would have to step up. It would have to be an overwhelming majority vote to get him to be removed. Based on what Smith said in his letter yesterday, President Johnson would be one of those who might want him gone.

Nebraska, Penn State, and Iowa would join Ohio State in that camp. The problem is getting the other teams in the conference on board. Making such a big move would require uniformity among the members of the conference presidents. That is a very hard thing to do.

Unless Warren continues to do extremely stupid things over the next few weeks, it is extremely unlikely that a change would be made. There are too many politics involved to make a move this big this soon after he was appointed.

It’s truly unfortunate that Warren has tried to make political moves at the expense of common sense. According to people close to the Vikings, where he was before taking this job, they weren’t exactly sad about him leaving. They believe he is trying to use this to eventually become NFL commissioner.

Next. E.J. Liddell can be the next great post player. dark

That is only a rumor I have heard, so don’t take it as gospel. But right now, he has not done things well.
