Rumors of Ohio State and some other Big Ten teams joining forces to play a Fall schedule are starting to float around. Should any credence be given to them?

Ohio State has been very vocal in their support of playing a Fall season in 2020. Players, coaches, parents, and fans have all come out in support of playing football this Fall. If you believe some rumors that are swirling around, it might still happen.

Despite the Big Ten canceling all Fall sports two weeks ago, rumors have continued to swirl that the Buckeyes might have hope to still play football in 2020. The most recent one involves Ohio State playing a schedule with Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Iowa.

According to Jeff Snook, that is what Ohio State is trying to organize. It would be a home-and-home with those teams and would equate to a 10-game schedule. It would reportedly start in late September or early October and would closely mirror the bye weeks that the original schedule had.

It’s very interesting that six teams have decided that Kevin Warren handled this so terribly that they have decided to play their own schedule. It shows you just how bad the leadership is within the conference. We have to be clear that these are just rumors though.

If this does indeed happen, this would save all of these programs a lot of money. You would be able to put fans in the stands and sell this to TV networks. It would also help these programs to fund other sports that have already been canceled and don’t have the TV money to help them.

It’s still unclear if these rumors are true. There would be logistics to hurdle and there would be fall out with the Big Ten conference itself. Presidents would have to sign off on this idea as well, so it’s a tall task to get everything done.
