Ohio State Football: Lack of transparency at heart of Big Ten issue
By Alex Austin
Amid outrage over the canceling of the Big Ten season, the lack of communication and transparency continues to be a cause of contention.
Kevin Warren continues to have a lot of questions asked of him without giving any answers in return. Players, parents, coaches, and fans have all been asking for further clarity and understanding as to why the Big Ten season was shut down so suddenly.
People tend to be confused about the timing since a schedule was announced just a week ahead of this situation. There is now some confusion on if a vote even happened, leading to more questions about who was involved in the decision-making process.
Justin Fields has started a petition to convince the Big Ten to reconsider and allow the players and coaches to be involved in the decision making process. Players are asking to be involved in deciding their future.
Parents from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Iowa have all written letters to the commissioner, asking to reconsider his decision to cancel the season.
Outrage that Kevin Warren has a son that is suiting up to play in the SEC while Warren stopped the Big Ten is beginning to build.
Amid all of this, there has been no additional communication from the Big Ten offices or Kevin Warren about why the decision was made, who was involved, or what the fall is going to look like.
Until additional communication is given, more and more rumors are going to start about what did or did not happen, or what will or will not happen in the future.
Right now people want to know why decisions were made that will directly affect many student-athletes around the Big Ten and thousands of other parents, personnel, and fans.
It is a rare day when fans and players of Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan can work together and agree on something. Kevin Warren has been able to do the impossible.
