Ohio State coach Ryan Day wants to make sure every option is considered for the upcoming season for the Buckeyes.

Monday was a wild day. Between conflicting reports that the Big Ten was canceling football this fall, University Presidents were voting on Monday, or no vote was planned, it was difficult to keep up with what was actually happening.

One person who remained steadfast in his desire was Ryan Day. In a bold statement declaring “This isn’t over.” Day was an adamant supporter of letting his players play this season. Day even went so far as to say that Ohio State would be looking at alternative options if the Big Ten does decide to cancel the season. Referring to playing outside of the Big Ten while on ESPN, Day said:

"“If that’s the only option at the time, we need to explore it, see if that’s something that we could possibly do.”"

Those are some strong words from the Buckeye head coach, but ones that surely inspired his team. Players and coaches within Ohio State made it clear that they want the chance to have a season in 2020, even if that looks different than what everyone thought it might.

Ryan Day has shown a tremendous ability to stand up for his players’ interests while pointing to the fact that safety is always his top priority. Going out on record and saying that he would look for alternative ways to play outside the Big Ten if necessary is a bold statement.

Until the first game is played there will be plenty of question marks about what the season might look like, as Ohio State and the Big Ten are continuing to wait for the first dominoes to start falling. One thing that seems for sure, Ryan Day is going to do everything in his power to see Ohio State playing football this fall.

dark. Next. Viability of Ohio State joining another conference

If that means he has to try and win the ACC, Big-12, or SEC it seems that Ryan Day is up for the challenge.
