Ohio State football: Master Teague might have a role in 2020 after all
By Ryan Stano
It seems as though the Ohio State running back has rehabbed extremely hard and might actually see a decent amount of playing time this Fall.
Ohio State football has always had some really good running backs. It’s part of their identity and it always has been. It always seems like they have them lined up on the depth chart. This season though, they had to get a transfer back because of Master Teague’s injury.
Trey Sermon will likely be the starting running back this Fall. He has experience already playing for a Power 5 team and has been a part of all of the workouts Ohio State has been allowed to have. With that being said, it looks like Teague will still be a big part of this team.
Teague suffered an Achilles injury in the spring. Most people around the program thought it was bad enough where it might take him out for the whole season. At least it would limit his effectiveness and he would miss a few games at the start.
That no longer seems like it’s the case. Teague has rehabbed his injury extremely hard. Ryan Day said that Teague has been attacking his rehab hard every single day. It seems like Teague might even be fully healthy before the season starts in September.
Even if Teague is fully healthy, he would only spell Sermon. He certainly won’t be the starter, but still might see up to 7 carries a game. In blowouts, he will likely see more. His role looks like it will be similar to what it was last season when he was the primary backup.
No matter what Teague’s role is this season, it’s good to see him healthy and ready to play.
