Ohio State Football: 3 observations on Ohio State schedule
By Alex Austin
Most seasons start off with people circling the big games (Michigan and Penn State) and then looking for trap games throughout the season. With a shortened schedule and increased bye-weeks, Ohio State does not have the traditional trap game recipe.
The closest game that checks the boxes would be at Maryland (sandwiched between two biggest games of the year, road game, an opponent that can surprise if not given proper respect), but there feels like such a big talent gap between these schools that Ohio State should be ready.
The Buckeyes enter most years with the goal of making the College Football Playoffs, but this year that feels like that is the expectation.
Anything less than an undefeated Big Ten run would leave a sour taste in Buckeye Nation. The schedule spreads out the big games, nicely lines up bye-weeks, and allows Ohio State to avoid multiple “trap” games.
Expectations usually run high in Columbus this time of year, and this year they are for good reason. A Heisman favorite at quarterback, strong skills players, a talented defense, and a positive schedule points to a good outcome for the Buckeyes this year.
Ohio State should end this strange season lifting the trophy in Indianapolis for the fourth straight time.
