Ohio State Football: Ohio State should make Michigan a night game
By Alex Austin
Ohio State and Michigan will not playing late November, but rather in October this year due to scheduling changes. With tradition out the window, why not play the biggest game of the year under the lights?
For years there has been a battle between two groups of people at Ohio State: those who want to play Michigan at night, and those who want to hold onto tradition.
The logic on one side is that the biggest game of the year should be played in the biggest atmosphere college football can provide. The other side says that the glory of this rivalry is the deep traditions of both schools.
Well maybe now there can be a compromise between the two sides.
In the release of the revised schedule, Ohio State and Michigan will play at the end of October instead of the last game of the season. There were arguments to play this game first, so the placement feels a little strange.
But with that strangeness comes possibility. Why not play the game at night?
The tradition of always playing at noon the Saturday after Thanksgiving has a small chance of happening this year. So if the date can’t live up to the tradition, toss out the timing too.
This would give a weird football season an additional storyline and a sense of intrigue to one of the fiercest rivalries in all of sports.
It would also pacify both groups of Ohio State fans since the tradition group is already being disappointed this year.
This would be the perfect time to try something new and see how it feels, rather than just speculate what it would be like.
The Game is going to be different this year knowing there are multiple games left to play. Let’s add to the change and play it under the lights.
