Ohio State football lands number 1 player in Ohio for 2022 class

Ohio State continues to kill it on the recruiting trail, this time landing the number one player in the state of Ohio for the 2022 class.
Ohio State already has the number one class in 2021. They have done an unbelievable job bringing in the best talent from across the country at all different positions. They are starting to do the same for the class of 2022 now, and have landed the number one player in the state of Ohio.
Four-star outside linebacker Gabe Powers announced his commitment to the Buckeyes. Powers is the best player in the state of Ohio and the second-best outside linebacker in the country. Right now, he is the 45th overall best player in the class of 2022, all according to 247 Sports.
Powers plays at Marysville High School and stands at 6’4 220lbs. He has really good quickness and can easily run from sideline to sideline. He is a better pass rusher than he is in coverage right now, but that can be coached up by Al Washington. Powers needs to gain a little bit more weight too.
Powers had offers from 18 different schools, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Wisconsin. He chose to stay in-state and play for the Buckeyes. This is Ohio State’s fourth commit for the class of 2022. Powers joins linebacker C.J. Hicks, corner Jyaire Brown, and tackle Tegra Tshabola.
Right now, Ohio State has the second-best recruiting class for 2022. They are only behind LSU, but that can easily change in the next few months. The way the Buckeyes have been recruiting for 2021, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them rise to number one for 2022 as well.
