There is not anyone player who is going to replace what Chase Young did last season. Even the next best defensive end from last year would not live up to what Young did.

With that being said, Ohio State does have a player on the roster that many feel could become the next dominant defensive end for the Buckeyes.

The former five-star recruit was rated as the 12th best player in the nation during his recruiting and was a huge addition for the Buckeyes.

Last year as a freshman he tied for the fifth-most sacks recorded. This kind of production is why many are excited about the next steps in his development.

Harrison was recruited to be the next great Buckeye defensive end in the line of the Bosa brothers and Chase Young. With a year to get bigger and stronger during the offseason, a better understanding of the playbook, and more playing time without a preseason star on the field, Harrison has the potential to have a breakout season.

Even if he doesn’t become the next Chase Young overnight, Harrison should lead the Buckeyes in sacks this upcoming year.

Even though one player won’t match Young’s totals in sacks, additional production from Cooper, Smith, Friday, and Harrison should be enough to keep this defensive line just as dominant.

Without one standout player, the line might even be more dangerous since each spot needs to have increased attention.
