Ohio State basketball: Bucks land 4-star SG Branham

The Ohio State basketball team was rumored to be the front-runner for the best player in the state, but now it’s official. Ohio State now has Malaki Branham coming into the program in 2021.

Chris Holtmann has done a really good job of recruiting since he has been hired as the head coach for the Ohio State basketball program. He has done a really good job of keeping Ohio talent in-state. Holtmann has just added to that philosophy today after adding Malaki Branham.

Branham is the number one player in the state of Ohio and the fifth-best shooting guard in the country for the class of 2021. Branham committed today on Twitter, showing that he is extremely happy to be a Buckeye.

Branham is a really good slasher and finisher. He also has some great size and is a really good defender and an excellent rebounder. He adds a lot to a team that will need some skill at the shooting guard position in 2021. The squad is shaping up to be really good.

Unfortunately, it’s very hard to guess who will leave and who will stay when it comes to college basketball rosters. Holtmann just had a bunch of players leave this past offseason, so that could happen again next offseason too. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen but it’s always best to build depth at every position.

This should elevate Ohio State’s recruiting class to even better heights for the class of 2021. In fact, they have jumped up to the second-best recruiting class in the country after Branham committed according to 247 Sports. 

It will be a lot of fun to watch this basketball team play for the next couple of years. Hopefully, Holtmann can keep recruiting at this rate.
