Ohio State football: 2021 recruit has senior season delayed
By Ryan Stano
Ohio State would love to have every one of their incoming recruits have stellar senior seasons, but it looks like one of their 2021 guys will have their season delayed.
The pandemic has changed how sports are played all around the world. In the football world, guidelines are being made right now to try and make it work the best that it can. Everyone from the NFL to college football to the high school level is trying to make it work.
One of the casualties of the pandemic is that seasons may be delayed or canceled. TreyVeon Henderson, the 5-star running back out of Virginia, won’t have a senior season at all after the state of Virginia announced they were canceling all fall sports.
Now Donovan Jackson, a guard from Texas, will have his senior season delayed by at least 5 weeks. Texas high school football has made the decision to delay the start of the season for both 6A and 5A for that amount of time due to the pandemic.
Ohio State already knows what they are getting from both Jackson and Henderson, but it would still be nice if they could see them play one more year of high school ball. Jackson should get that chance right now, but things could change quickly with how fast COVID cases are rising in Texas.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of high school football is being played. Here in Ohio, it looks like everything will go on as planned. I also know that Indiana plans on playing football as well. Other states are still trying to figure out what to do.
We will keep you up to date if any more high school seasons get canceled or delayed.
