The final selection for the Madden 99 Overall club was released this week. That final selection was former Ohio State receiver Michael Thomas.

Michael Thomas has proven to be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He has earned his 99 overall rating for this year’s Madden.

The former Ohio State product has made an impact on the field for the New Orleans Saints since they drafted him in the second round with the forty-seventh pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Thomas has averaged over a 1,000 yards each year since being drafted.

Before leaving the Buckeyes after his junior year, Thomas had 113 receptions, 1,602 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns. In his sophomore season, Thomas brought in 54 catches for 799 yards with 9 touchdown receptions. He followed that sophomore season his junior year with 56 receptions for 781 yards and 9 touchdown receptions.

Not everyone knew that Thomas was going to be a great pick up for any NFL franchise. It has been beneficial for Thomas to have a quarterback like Drew Brees throwing passes to him. He has caught 9 touchdown passes in three out of his four NFL seasons and has had over 100 receptions in three out of four of his seasons in the NFL.

Towards the end of last season, Thomas was upgraded by Madden to a 99 overall because of his work he put in on the field. That work has carried over from last year’s edition to this year’s game. Thomas is the first Buckeye in recent memory to have achieved this rating in Madden.
