Even though Ohio State has lost a few defensive back commits this cycle, it looks like they are about to flip a recruit of their own.

Ohio State has the number one recruiting class in 2021 for a reason. All of their coaches are master recruiters. The university has a history and tradition of success. Perhaps the most important factor is their ability to get their players to the next level.

All of these reasons are why recruits want to play for Ryan Day and company. While their defensive back room doesn’t look that impressive right now, it looks like they could be a lot better here soon with a recent de-commitment.

Four-star cornerback Jordan Hancock announced his de-commitment from Clemson yesterday. He had been committed to the Tigers since mid-March. Now it looks like Ohio State is the clear favorite to win his services. The Buckeyes were the top competition for Clemson the first time around.

According to 247 Sports, Hancock is the 5th best corner in the country and the 41st best prospect overall in the class. Hancock would add some much-needed depth to the secondary, as the only current cornerback signed in this class is Jakailin Johnson.

With Hancock looking at other programs, Ohio State has extended their lead as the top recruiter in the class of 2021. Clemson is no longer has the number two class, as that is owned by North Carolina. The Buckeyes have a 40 point lead on them as of right now.

That lead would only grow larger if they were able to land Hancock. Hancock is instinctive and can make some really great plays on the ball. With the right coaching, he has the potential to develop into a first-round pick. That would be nothing new for members of the Ohio State secondary.

Next. J.K. Dobbins finally earning some respect. dark

Hancock is reportedly going to take some time to make his final decision on where to play his college ball, so we will keep you updated on any decision that he does make.
