If high school football were to be moved to the Spring, kids committed to the Ohio State football program would have a big decision to make.

Ohio State doesn’t just have to worry about the 2020 college football season being moved to the Spring. That would be bad enough because top players such as Justin Fields, Wyatt Davis, and Shaun Wade would likely sit out. But the other focus they should have is on the high school front.

If the high school football season was moved to the Spring, then several Ohio State commits would have to make big decisions. They would have to decide to play their senior season or enroll early and prepare for their freshman season at Ohio State.

A lot of top recruits love to enroll early so they can get a head start on the playbook and have a higher chance to play as a freshman. Players like Kyle McCord, TreyVeon Henderson, and Jack Sawyer would have to decide whether the risk is worth playing in the Spring for their high school team.

There is massive injury risk involved for all of the players in the class of 2021 if the high school season is moved. Getting hurt would not only end their senior year in high school but also possibly end their freshman year of college before it would even get started.

The other thing to consider in this scenario is that playing in the Spring and then right again in the Fall is putting a massive amount of stress on these kids. Their bodies might not be able to take the pounding of playing two seasons in just one calendar year.

Next. Ohio State football better hope for fall football. dark

Hopefully, this is a scenario that doesn’t need to present itself at all. Even so, all contingency plans need to be thought of just in case.
