Ohio State Football: Ohio State could beat Michigan twice in 2020

Ohio State has had a regularly scheduled beat down of Michigan for close to two decades, but there could be potential that the Buckeyes get two chances to beat the Wolverines in 2020.

Ohio State has not lost to Michigan in close to 3,000 days. That is over 8 years of dominating the Wolverines and maintaining claim to the best team in the Big Ten.

2020 will be a schedule unlike anything we have seen before.

The Big Ten has announced that they will be moving to a conference-only schedule in the fall. This would mean that Ohio State will be dropping Oregon, Bowling Green State, and Buffalo from their schedule, leaving just 9 games left.

Gene Smith said in a teleconference that a 10 game conference schedule is where the athletic directors want to end up.

That leaves some last-minute scheduling that needs to take place. Keep those thoughts in mind while we look at another piece of information that came out earlier this week.

Michael Spath, who covers Michigan on Wolverine Digest said:

"I expect Michigan to play at least one home-and-home and potentially two or more with other Big Ten teams, most likely Michigan State, Indiana and Ohio State."

So now, imagine with me a season where Ohio State and Michigan play each other twice. Once would be in an empty stadium in Ann Arbor while the other is in an empty stadium in Columbus.

With home-field not being as much of a factor, the Buckeyes could be in a good position to win two games in one season against their arch-rivals.

I’ll leave you with a beautiful dream. Imagine a season-ending where Jim Harbaugh is now 0-7 against Ohio State after only 6 seasons as the coach at Michigan.

Next. Cause for concern on the recruiting trail. dark

With the way things are going, anything could happen at this point.
