Kyle McCord, a 5-star quarterback who committed to Ohio State last year, has been creating some buzz recently after his performance at the Elite 11 Finals in Nashville last week.

The 6’3 quarterback won the Elite 11 Pro Day competition, before just missing out on the MVP award, which went to 5-star Caleb Williams.

"McCord talked to Scarlet & Game about his trip to Tennessee: “The Elite 11 was a great experience, it was awesome to be around other top guys and counselors that have dominated college football over the last couple of years. I definitely am a better quarterback after going through that.”"

The 2021 pro-style QB committed to the Buckeyes on April 30, 2019, joining the best recruiting class in the nation according to 247 Sports. Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class includes McCord (5-star QB), Tunmise Adeleye (4-star DE), TreVeyon Henderson (5-star RB), Donovan Jackson (5-star OG), Jack Sawyer (5-star DE), and 13 others.

McCord is the 24th ranked player in the country, and the 5th ranked quarterback, according to 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings. He turned down scholarship offers from fellow Big Ten schools Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Rutgers, as well as national brands Baylor, North Carolina, Texas A&M, and more.

"“Ohio State was so different from the rest of the pack because of my relationships with the coaches,” McCord explained. “I felt like their offense suited me the best out of all of the schools that were recruiting me. I also felt like I was at home as soon as I stepped foot on the campus. The game day atmosphere is second to none.”"

He also discussed his upcoming senior season and his strengths: “Going into my senior season I want to go undefeated and win a state title. I feel like my biggest strength is just the fact that I don’t believe that I have any weaknesses on the field. I feel like I am a complete quarterback. I can recognize defenses, extend plays and make any throw.”

The St. Joseph’s High School signal-caller could come into Columbus with an intriguing quarterback battle looming alongside CJ Stroud and Jack Miller (assuming Justin Fields declares for the draft). As well as lofty expectations that he has already set for himself: “I want to win multiple national championships and win the Big Ten every year.”
