Ohio State Football: Fields, Davis and Wade Preseason All-Americans
As fans eagerly await the start of the 2020 Ohio State football season, three Buckeyes have been named to a Preseason All-American team.
Walter Camp named its preseason All-American team and three Ohio State football players were included. This team consists of the best players in college football heading into this season.
Among the 1st and 2nd All-American teams, three Buckeyes were named as among the top players entering the season. Offensive lineman Wyatt Davis was named a First-Team All-American.
Davis is a returning Walter Camp All-American honoree and joins Oregon OL Penei Sewell, Wisconsin OL Cole Van Lanen, Texas OL Samuel Cosmi and Oklahoma OL Creed Humphrey as the top offensive linemen in the country.
Quarterback Justin Fields was named to the second-team. As expected, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence claimed First-Team honors. This will be a constant battle between Fields and Lawrence to be the nation’s top quarterback this season.
Returning for his fourth season, Buckeye CB Shaun Wade was named to the Second-Team All-American Team. After playing inside cornerback in a loaded Buckeye secondary last season, Wade will move outside this year.
Under Coach Kerry Coombs’ tutelage, Wade will look to be one of the top defensive backs this season.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation produces the nation’s oldest college football All-America team so getting recognized for preseason honors is quite an achievement.
Following the 2019 season, the Buckeyes ranked 2nd behind LSU among total All-American honorees with five. Top NFL Draft selections, Chase Young and Jeff Okudah, were First-Team selections while Wyatt Davis, Justin Fields and J.K. Dobbins were Second-Team honorees.
Look for both Wade and Fields to have monster seasons to join Davis as First-Team Walter Camp All-Americans following a 2020 championship season.
