Ohio State Football: 3 Buckeyes make preseason All-American team
The Ohio State football team continues to impress with its talent as three Buckeyes were select to preseason All-American teams.
The Ohio State Buckeyes churn out top end talent at an impressive rate and the 2020 roster will continue to be no different. The Walter Camp Preseason All-America team was released last week and three Buckeyes were among the field.
At the top of that list is offensive lineman Wyatt Davis who is the lone first-team selection. Davis might very well be the best guard in the country and is considered to be a lock in the first round of next year’s NFL Draft.
Behind Davis are two second-team selections in quarterback Justin Fields and cornerback Shaun Wade as both players are more than deserving of the honors. Fields will be relied upon even more this upcoming season after having lost three wide receivers and one of the nation’s best running backs in JK Dobbins.
Fields was beaten out for the first team honors by Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence as both players figure to be the top two leading candidates for next season’s Heisman Trophy award.
Shaun Wade will finally get the chance this season to prove that he can be a lockdown corner outside of the hash marks as he was Ohio State’s nickel back last season. With a good showing in 2020, Wade can join the ranks of many Buckeye defensive backs before him as first round NFL draft picks.
A few more Buckeyes definitely received consideration for the preseason honors but ultimately were passed up. Linebacker Barron Browning, center Josh Myers and wide receiver Chris Olave might have some added motivation from the snubs heading into next season.
The Ohio State football team will go as far as Justin Fields takes them in 2020. But it’s great to know that he has a bunch of talented players supporting him next season.
