A four-star recruit decided to play for the Clemson Tigers instead of joining the Ohio State recruiting class but the Buckeyes are fine at wide receiver.

Last Friday four-star receiver Troy Stellato committed to play for Clemson instead of joining the 2021 Ohio State recruiting class. That could be a blow for some programs, but the wide receiver situation for the Buckeyes is just fine.

Stellato would have been a great addition to the class as he is ranked as the  22nd best WR and the No. 125 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. However, the cupboard is certainly not bare when it comes to the Buckeyes’ receiving corps.

Two outstanding WR recruits are already committed, another may be on the way and there were four outstanding ones in the 2020 class.

Let’s first look at this year’s commits.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is ranked as the 8th best receiver and the No. 59 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. Jayden Ballard is ranked as the No. 11 WR and the 68th best player.

Landing two top 100 players at the wide receiver position would make any coach happy but Ryan Day may bring in another to this year’s Ohio State recruiting class.

Emeka Egbuka is the top-ranked wide receiver and the No. 8 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. The Crystal Ball predictions favor Ohio State at 94 percent.

Don’t you think Brian Hartline would be excited to work with these three guys? Especially with them joining the terrific group of receivers in the 2020 Ohio State recruiting class. Let’s take a look at those guys and their rankings in the 247Sports Composite.

  • Julian Fleming:  No. 1 WR, No. 3 player overall
  • Jaxson Smith-Njigba:  No. 5 WR, (28)
  • Gee Scott Jr.:  No. 10 WR, (65)
  • Mookie Cooper:  No. 16 WR, (91)

You can see coach Hartline has plenty of young talent to work with. If Egbuka comes on board it will give the receivers coach a second straight unbelievable class.
