Ohio State Buckeyes basketball 2010s All-Decade team
By Ryan Stano
The Buckeyes had plenty of great players this past decade. Now we try to pick the best 10 for our All-Decade team.
The 2010s were one of the best decades of sustained success the Buckeyes have ever had on the basketball court. Thad Matta and Chris Holtman were able to lead teams that had great success, and even led the team to a final four in 2012.
Players win games though. Both Matta and Holtman have said so themselves. The 2010s saw plenty of great players roll through Value City Arena. Those players helped the Buckeyes win three consecutive Big Ten championships from 2010-2012. There were some truly great teams.
Now that the decade is over, we decided to try and pick the best ten players to play for the Buckeyes in that decade. It was not an easy task and there were several close calls. That shows just how good of a program this has become and how good it still can be.
While the early part of the decade got most of the votes for the best players, there were still some great players that made the cut in the Holtman era. It would have been easier if there was more positional flexibility, but that also would have made things harder in certain ways.
We will start in the backcourt and move our way into the frontcourt. Every position will have a starter and then a backup. Ten players is the size of the team. Ready? We start at point guard, where there were some truly tough choices to be made.
