Last season it appeared the weak link on the Ohio State football team could be the offensive line with so many holes to fill. That’s not the case this year.

Heading into the 2019 season many Ohio State football fans were concerned about the offensive line. You can understand why as left tackle Thayer Munford was the only full-time starter and guard Wyatt Davis only started at the end of the 2018 season.

Josh Myers took over at center, Jonah Jackson transferred in from Rutgers and Branden Bowen finally healed from his injury and moved outside to take over the right tackle spot. That group of ‘Slobs’ turned out to be one of the best offensive lines in the country.

This year coach Greg Studrawa doesn’t have as many holes to fill, and has a great nucleus.

It appears Harry Miller who played behind Myers last year as a true freshman may move to guard. He could be in a battle with Matthew Jones though, the No. 1 center in the 2018 class.

Nicholas Petit-Frere, the No. 1 tackle in the 2018 class, should be in position to take over at right tackle after filling in admirably for Bowen at times last season. Parris Johnson Jr., the No. 1 tackle in this year’s class may have something to say about that though. And don’t count out Jawand Jones making some noise as he impressed the coaching staff last year as a true freshman.

Ryan Jacoby will probably be in the two-deep at guard and the No. 2 ranked center Luke Wypler may back up Myers like Miller did last year as a true freshman. There are more talented linemen who will battle for a spot in the two-deep as well.

Coach Studrawa has to be happy having so much talent on his offensive line. It won’t be a matter of just filling in the blanks but having talented players battling for a spot in the rotation.  Any offensive line coach would love that situation.
