No. 2 Ohio State Football Player in the NFL:  Joey Bosa

Joey Bosa, one of the game’s best sack masters, checks in as the silver medalist.

Bosa has only been in the league for four seasons, but he’s already putting together a Hall of Fame resume. In four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, Bosa has recorded 40 sacks.

Bosa played three seasons for Urban Meyer as a Buckeye and tallied 51 tackles for loss, 26 sacks and 5 forced fumbles.

After his time in Columbus, Bosa was drafted into the Chargers’ organization with the third overall pick. Bosa has lived up to his high draft card as he averages 10 sacks a season.

For years NFL teams have been building in the trenches, but Bosa refueled the belief that an elite pass rusher is second in value only to an elite quarterback. Since Bosa’s selection in 2016, a pass rusher has been picked every year within the top five selections.

In 2016 Bosa was named AP’s Defensive Rookie of the Year and was graded by PFF as one of the best rookies seasons of the decade. He’s then followed that up with two Pro Bowl nods.

Bosa’s entering his final year of his rookie deal in 2020 where he will earn a whopping $14.4 million. If he continues at his career pace, that’s over $1 million per sack. Not a bad gig.

Bosa will be just 25-years old when he begins his fifth year as a pro. He’s already arguably the game’s best edge rusher, but he has a lot more sacks to tally and many more appearances in quarterback’s nightmares.

Bosa undoubtedly has set the foundation to a first ballot Hall of Fame career.

Moving up to the top spot.
