The Ohio State football staff will now be allowed to come to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and you can be sure it will rock and roll.

It was reported in a Lettermen Row article the Ohio State football staff can now return to the Woody Hayes Athletic facility with certain restrictions for precautionary purposes. It will be good for the coaches to get back together at this time to prepare for the upcoming season.

It’s obvious they have been in touch often since they were restricted from getting together with the coronavirus situation but it’s not the same as when all are in the same room. I’ll get to the benefits of that situation later but I just have to mention this first because I can’t stop thinking about it.

Wouldn’t you love to have been there when Kerry Coombs walked through the door?

I’m sure the Woody was rocking and rolling with him back. The DB coach / DC bounces off the walls when things are normal and he has been shut in for weeks.

I hope someone thought to put padding on the walls before allowing coaches to come back.

He’s always going 90 miles per hour but has plenty of defensive backs to work with to expend some of that energy. Now it’s all saved up for the other coaches.

It will be important for coach Coombs to have more time to work with the other defensive coaches since Greg Mattison, Al Washington and Matt Barnes joined the staff last year. And Ryan Day likes to employ a different scheme than when Kerry coached corners at Ohio State before.

Also, he will be coaching safeties as well as corners and is now the DC. The more face to face interaction he has with the other coaches on that side of the ball the quicker all will get on the same page.

On offense it will be important for the coaches to figure out which players may fill in the gaps with players who moved on but things should run smoothly. Corey Dennis taking over as QB coach shouldn’t be an issue because he has been mentored by Ryan Day and has the respect of coaches and players alike.

Well, it’s encouraging for fans to see coaches allowed back into the Woody which gives them hope the 2020 season will be played. But I’ll bet some coaches hope the players will be allowed on campus soon so Kerry can be out working with the defense instead of always being in the room with them. Everybody loves the guy but he just has too much energy.
