Other schools are constantly looking to the Ohio State football program for head coaching hires. Two more assistants could be moving on soon.

The Ohio State football team’s assistants are always being talked about as future head coaches. That just comes with the territory when you have a successful program.

Former Buckeye coach Jim Tressel lost key coaches in defensive coordinator Mark Dantonio and wide receivers coach Darrel Hazel to head coaching jobs during his tenure.

Urban Meyer had his fair share of assistants from all his stops during his coaching career who went on to run their own programs such as Dan Mullen, Tom Herman and Luke Fickell.

Ryan Day has already lost one assistant in former defensive coordinator and now Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley. He almost lost a second when both running backs coach Tony Alford and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson were finalists for the Colorado State job.

The Buckeyes have many coaches on staff with head coaching aspirations. Kerry Coombs, Kevin Wilson, Brian Hartline, Al Washington and Tony Alford all could be head coaches one day.

Ryan Day will be judged on how well he replaced his assistants who went on to become head coaches but that’s not the topic for today. With so many good assistant coaches at Ohio State, who are ones next in line to have a head coaching job of their own?

Here are two assistants who may very well become head coaches after next season, one on each side of the ball.
