There are only a few teams that can hang with the Ohio State football team during the 2020 season. Most reside outside the Big Ten and a couple are familiar faces.

The Ohio State football team will enter the 2020 season ranked as one of the best in the country. Among teams that have the best chance to compete with the Buckeyes this year are familiar faces as well as a new foe.

Clemson Tigers

The team that knocked out the Buckeyes this past season remains one of the best bets to win the National Championship in 2021. The Tigers are listed as having the best odds to win the title, and there is good reason for that.

Returning a starting quarterback almost always gives a team an advantage for the next season. When he is one of the best players in the country that makes a huge difference.

Trevor Lawrence has the ability to lead the Tigers to the National Championship yet again.

The ACC is still considered a weaker conference and it will take time for teams to continually have success. So, an easier schedule combined with a good team makes Clemson an obvious threat.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Chalk up another team in the obvious category. Nick Saban has had Alabama competing for a National Championship for over a decade now, and the expectations won’t be any different this year. However, are things slipping for Alabama?

Not making the playoffs and currently having the 55th best recruiting class might be pointing to the end of an era for the Crimson Tide. Alabama will be competitive in 2020, but another team in the SEC may have an easier road to the College Football Playoffs.

Texas A&M

Texas A&M seems like a dark horse candidate to be really strong in the SEC. The Aggies return their quarterback and top running back along with some great receivers. The offense has the chance to take a giant leap forward with Kellon Mond.

Also, the defense returns the bulk of their starters from last season to create a well-rounded team. A huge help will be that A&M doesn’t have to play Clemson and Georgia this year.
